A guide to unlocking the L.A. Noire The Moose Achievement by tailing Candy Edwards without using cover or going incognito. The L.A. Noire The Moose Achievement is in the L.A. Noire Case The Set-Up. This is the second case on the Vice Desk, on the third disc of the Xbox version of the game. It takes place right around the middle of the case, right after you question Candy Edwards in her apartment. The Achievement description reads: “Follow Candy Edwards without using cover or incognito, except when starting or picking up the tail.”
If you are spotted by Candy Edwards, it counts as failing the case, and you will be prompted to restart it. If you restart, it will start you at the most recent save point in the tailing sequence, and you will automatically be taking cover. If you are at the beginning of the tailing sequence, that wouldn’t matter, but there have been reports of restarting the sequence causing people to not get the achievement. Therefore, if you get spotted during the tail, hit the Xbox button on your controller to exit to the dashboard. Then reload your game to try again. Otherwise, you would have to start the case all over again.
Tailing Candy Edwards
Wait on the bench reading the paper until Candy Edwards walks through the gate and Phelps says something about too much slack. At that point, run up to the wall on the right by the gate, and when Candy Edwards is not looking, run up and stand by the truck in the parking lot. Wait there until she is done looking around. When she walks past the fence, run up to the fence so that the tree is in between you and Edwards. (A hint will pop up saying to take cover to avoid being spotted, but that is not really helpful in this situation.)
When you are standing behind the tree, Edwards will look around for a moment and then continue up the sidewalk. While she isn’t looking, run and stand by the shoe shine stand. A truck will pull up in the alley after she passes it. Run up and stand so that the truck is between you and Candy Edwards.
When the truck pulls away, run in the grass so that Edwards‘ vision is blocked by the building. Run up to the side of the building and climb the drain pipe to get on top. While you are on the building, Phelps will keep mumbling to himself about being too far away. Just keep in pace with her along the roof. You will jump down to a lower level twice. The second time you jump down, run as fast as you can to the far right corner of the building to slide down the ladder.
Come up the alley around the edge of the building, carefully to make sure that Candy Edwards isn’t looking. Follow her carefully up that little road, going behind fences or dumpsters as needed.
She’ll turn left into a parking lot. Run up to the dumpsters by the road she turned off of and wait there. She will walk up the parking lot and go right. She will go out of your line of sight at this point. Advance to the next set of dumpsters, but be very careful at this point because she is standing on the other side and will spot you if you don’t make sure the dumpsters are between you.
She will move on past the edge of the building. Go up to the edge and wait there because she will turn around and look again. When she starts walking again, go up and stand behind the shed. She will proceed into an alley. When she is out of site, run up to the building next to the alley and wait there for a moment. While she is in the alley, she will turn and look in your direction. When she turns right out of the alley, run to the end of the alley.
